AI answers — optional
An AI job application assistant that asks before it sends
Stuck on “Why do you want to work here?” Turn on AI answers and JobFill drafts three versions for you to choose from and edit. It’s off by default, and nothing is sent until you’ve seen exactly what will be used.
How it works
- Step 1
Pick a question
After autofill, open questions are listed. Choose “Generate with AI” on one.
- Step 2
See what will be used
A consent screen lists each item — job details, relevant skills, experience — with its exact text. Untick anything.
- Step 3
Generate
JobFill sends only the approved items to the provider you chose and gets three drafts: balanced, concise and professional.
- Step 4
Edit and insert
Choose a draft, edit it, and click Insert Answer. The form is never submitted.
Minimum data, maximum clarity
JobFill proposes only what one question needs, and some details are never sent at all.
May be sent — only if you leave it ticked
- The question itself
- Job title, company and job description from the page
- Your current role and relevant skills
- Up to two relevant roles with short highlights
- Education, when the question is about it
- Your professional summary (never pre-ticked)
Never sent
- Your name
- Email, phone and address
- LinkedIn, GitHub and website links
- Salary expectations
- Work authorization or sponsorship answers
- Demographic answers
- Your resume file
Your provider, your key
JobFill doesn’t ship with an AI key or route requests through a JobFill server. Requests go directly from the extension in your browser to the provider you choose.
- OpenAI, Google Gemini, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — including a model server on your own computer
- Your API key is stored only in your browser on your device, and you can remove it at any time
- The consent screen names the destination on every request
- No AI history: drafts disappear when you close the popup
- The provider’s own privacy policy and retention terms apply to what you send
Frequently asked questions
How do JobFill’s AI features work?
AI answers are optional and off by default. For an open question like “Why do you want to work here?”, JobFill shows exactly what it would send — the question, job details from the page and the profile items you tick — and only after you click Generate Answer does it send that to the AI provider you configured. You get draft answers to edit; nothing is inserted until you choose one.
Do I need an AI API key?
No. Autofill, resume import, preview and every other core feature work without any AI. Only the optional AI answers need a key: you use your own (bring-your-own-key) from OpenAI, Google Gemini or an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, stored only in your browser.
Do I have to use AI?
No. AI answers are optional and off by default. Autofill, resume import and everything else work without AI.
Which AI providers can I use?
OpenAI, Google Gemini, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — including a model server running on your own computer. You use your own API key.
What does JobFill send to the AI provider?
Only what one question needs, and only after you see it and click Generate Answer: the question, the job title, company and description from the page, and the profile details you leave ticked (such as relevant skills and experience highlights). Your name, contact details, address, links, salary, work authorization, demographic answers and resume file are never sent.
Does JobFill keep my AI answers?
No. Generated answers exist only while the JobFill popup is open. Your AI provider may keep its own records under its own policy.
Where is my API key stored?
Only in your browser’s extension storage on your device. It is sent only to the provider you chose, and you can remove it at any time from Privacy settings.
